Kids play an important role in the world. We need children to make our world brighter, happier, and more magical. They remind us of the true meaning of life. As much as we need them, they need us more. That is what Kiwanis is all about! Our members are dedicated to helping children and families in our community. Kiwanis is a powerful force with thousands of clubs around the globe. Just some of the problems that Kiwanis addresses are: fighting hunger, improving education, and creating future leaders.
Kids need Kiwanis because:
- Kiwanis International helps countless children every day. The club of more than 550,000 members provides the community a chance to give back. Individually, it is difficult to make things happen. Local Kiwanis, like Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis, is a golden opportunity to make a positive impact in your community. Kids benefit when individuals dedicate their time, treasure, and talents to Kiwanis. No matter how much or little you are involved, by being an active member of Kiwanis, children in your community benefit. Each community is unique and has different needs. Your local Kiwanis focuses on those challenges and members work side-by-side to solve those problems.
- Kiwanis Kids (K-Kids) teaches elementary-aged children valuable life lessons. This fun club provides leadership and self-development experiences for the children. Children in your community are introduced to the importance of setting goals, teamwork, and encouraging one another. Kids need these experiences in their development. Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis sponsors, helps, and mentors Porter County Aktion Club, Parkview K-Kids, Central K-Kids, TJ Elementary K-Kids, Northview K-Kids, Flint Lake K-Kids, and the TJ Builders Club.
- Key Club International is a popular High school club that improves the lives of young adults and their communities. The student members of Key Club volunteer in their communities and learn the value of being active citizens. Key Club members do a lot. Some of their activities include: cleaning up parks, holding canned food drives, and collecting clothing for those in need. Young adults benefit from learning these valuable lessons and their community benefits from their efforts. Each year the Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis awards three scholarships to local high school students.
At Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis, we help local children. Our doors are open to new members. We hope you’ll be inspired to make an impact in the life of a child in our community! If you are interested in more information, feel free to contact: jcshort@frontier.com
