Sunrise Kiwanis Donation August 2021
Kiwanians of the year

Sunrise Kiwanis donated $1,500 to Riley Hospital for Children during the district convention’s parade of checks. The Indiana district of Kiwanis pledged $125,000 this year to support Riley Hospital for Children.

Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis

Our group was formed in 1988, the first year women were admitted to Kiwanis. It was the idea of George Nash (food service director of VHS) and Lonnie Steele (school principal), noon club members. Several of their fellow school principals could not attend noon club, so they had this Sunrise idea. That is why there were so many educators in our club. We first met at Brown's Ice Cream, Valpo Velvet. Mr. Gordon Brown fixed us a nice breakfast even though they did not open for breakfast. We have met at several locations thru the years, but this is the 2nd time to meet at Chili Bowl!

Community Involvement

We are passionate about making a difference. Helping kids grow and succeed is at the heart of everything we do.

Events like Choc-O-Lots, our Annual Rummage Sale, and our Golf Outing help provide to children. All money raised for our events go directly to children.

Helping strengthen our community we provide scholarships to local students.

Your Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis is a mosaic of ordinary people doing extraordinary things to uplift our communities and serve children around the world.

Days Of Caring

Each year Kiwanis club members set aside a day as a "Day of Caring" to better their communities. It’s also been a day when club members invite friends and family to join them in a project that can improve a community.

Golf Outing

Kiwanis partners with First Tee. First Tee introduces kids to nine core values consisting of: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgement to help children focus on life skills. Proceeds raised go to both organizations to support their missions.

Annual Rummage Sale

Each year Sunrise Kiwanis hosts an Annual Rummage Sale in which all proceeds support our youth.. We collect items throughout the year and in May host the rummage sale at the Eagles. If you're cleaning your house and looking to get rid of items we ask that you consider donating them to us.
